Brittany Muoneke, LPCA
Lead Internship Program Coordinator & Mental Wealth Therapist
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC): This clinician is fully licensed
Greetings! I’m Brittany, a Licensed Professional Counselor, Mental Wealth Therapist, and Internship Program Coordinator at Choosing Empowerment. I am thrilled to be part of a team that values advocacy, personal growth, cultural responsiveness, and the Power of Choice.
Originally from Dallas, Texas and now residing in Austin. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Applied Sociological Research and Psychology from Texas State University and my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University.
I consider myself an eclectic therapist, which means for me, one size does not fit all because each individual has their own unique situations and autonomy. I pull from different therapeutic approaches based on each client’s needs, experiences, personality, and goals. My areas of focus include Narrative therapy, anxiety, depression, Borderline, Bipolar, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Exposure and Response Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and incorporating mindfulness into the therapeutic process.
My journey toward becoming a mental health counselor was fueled by an unwavering passion for advocacy and a desire to help people become the best versions of themselves, one choice at a time. I am deeply committed to creating a space where clients feel safe enough to speak honestly, supported enough to explore difficult experiences, and respected enough to feel heard, understood, and validated.
During my undergraduate studies, I had the opportunity to intern under a licensed therapist at a nonprofit organization. While there, I contributed to the development of educational booklets and did narrative therapy work with incarcerated veterans in a maximum-security prison. That experience strengthened my desire to support people who are often disenfranchised, overlooked, or misunderstood.
I later spent four years working as a Mental Health Associate in a facility dedicated to supporting youth individuals with significant mental health needs. Witnessing the impact that encouragement, self-esteem building, and genuine human connection could have on someone’s life further inspired my commitment to this work.
Being part of Choosing Empowerment has been an incredible opportunity for growth. Under the guidance of Shawnnell Batiste, LPC, I have continued to strengthen essential skills such as assessment, rapport building, knowledge sharing, empathy, and motivation. I take pride in my ability to genuinely listen, help clients consider fresh perspectives, and support them in making choices that feel right for themselves, their families, and their communities.
As a therapist, I want clients to leave sessions with a greater understanding of themselves and a stronger belief in their ability to create change. My goal is to help people manage overwhelming thoughts, build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and develop a life that feels more peaceful, intentional, and aligned with who they truly are.
I understand that beginning therapy can feel uncomfortable, uncertain, or even intimidating. You do not have to come in with the perfect words or have everything figured out. We can begin wherever you are and work together from there.
Outside of my professional work, I support my own mental wellness through painting, rollerblading, and designing tattoos. I am also an enthusiastic foodie who enjoys Nigerian food, Cajun cuisine, and just about any delicious, carb-filled meal Austin has to offer.
I am excited to walk alongside you as you explore your story, strengthen your mental health, and discover what empowerment looks like for you. Together, we can use the Power of Choice to help you create a more fulfilling life.
